Arabic version: تحدٍّ أمام المحكمة العليا يلوح في الأفق بشأن حظر وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي لمن هم دون 16 عاماً
According to The Guardian, the first major legal challenge to Australia’s under-16s social media ban is set to be heard in the high court on Tuesday, 11 months after the policy took effect.
The challenges are being brought by online giant Reddit and the Digital Freedom Project. They are expected to argue that the ban prevents young people from political communication.
The case comes as similar social media restrictions are adopted internationally. The Guardian’s Full Story podcast examines whether the legal action could mark the beginning of the end for Labor’s world-leading social media ban.
Technology reporter Josh Taylor discusses the expected court battle with host Reged Ahmad in the podcast episode.
