The Maronite Sisters of the Holy Family in Dulwich Hill hosted a fundraising gala on Thursday evening at the Renaissance Hall to support the construction of a new 100-bed wing at their aged care facility in Marrickville. The new development will provide additional accommodation and services for elderly residents.
The event was attended by a distinguished gathering of political, diplomatic, religious, community and business representatives, including the representative of Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, the Hon. Tony Burke; the representative of the Federal Opposition Leader, Senator Dave Sharma; Lebanese Ambassador Mirna Khawly; Bishops Antoine-Charbel Tarabay, Robert Rabbat and Basilios Koussia; Vicar General Marcelino Youssef; and the Superior General of the Maronite Sisters of the Holy Family, Mother Marie Antoinette Saade. The event was also attended by the Consul General, the Lebanese Ambassador, and representatives of the Prime Minister and Opposition Leader
Also in attendance were a number of priests and religious sisters, Lebanese Consul General Raymond Chamlaty, Lebanese Consul Sarah Derghani, the representative of the NSW Premier, Minister Sophie Cotsis, NSW Opposition Leader Kellie Sloane, local councillors and representatives, members of Lebanese political parties and community organisations, association presidents, community leaders and businesspeople, the president of ladies of the gospal Mona Kaltoum Rahme
In her address, Sister Elham Geagea, Director of the centre, welcomed and thanked the guests and supporters for their presence and generosity. She outlined the vision behind the new project and highlighted its importance in providing additional care and accommodation for elderly members of the community.
The evening was hosted by Hanna Ghreichi Rahme and Joe Freij, who guided guests through the program.
The event reflected the strong commitment of the Maronite Sisters of the Holy Family to caring for the elderly and strengthening services for the wider community, while bringing together political, religious, diplomatic and community leaders in support of this important new development.
