According to Al Jazeera, Yemen’s internationally recognised government said a Houthi attack on the Red Sea port city of al-Makha, also known as Mocha, killed at least four people.

The government said the Houthis fired six ballistic missiles at al-Makha on Friday. Armed forces aligned with the government said the attack struck civilian infrastructure and national assets at the port. Initial reports indicated that four civilians were killed and several fishing boats were set on fire.

An unnamed military official from Yemen’s government told AFP that at least eight people were killed, including two security personnel. The differing reported death tolls were not immediately reconciled.

The Houthis said they had targeted what they described as buildups, weapons and warships belonging to Saudi-backed forces and “mercenaries” in al-Makha. They said a large number of ballistic missiles destroyed boats and weapons.

Separately, the Houthi-run SABA news agency cited a military source saying the group targeted an Aramco facility in Saudi Arabia’s Najran with a drone. The source linked the attack to what it described as Saudi military aircraft entering airspace over northeastern Yemen’s Saada governorate. There was no immediate confirmation from Saudi authorities or Aramco.
