Arabic version: إيان روبرتسون مدان بالاغتصاب والاعتداء في محكمة غلاسكو
Former River City actor Iain Robertson has been convicted of raping a woman and assaulting two others. The 45-year-old, who played Stevie O’Hara in the BBC soap, has been found guilty of five offences, including domestic abuse, against the women between 2004 and 2019.
During his trial at the High Court in Glasgow, witnesses described Robertson as “violent” and “controlling.” The prosecution presented strong testimonies from the victims, highlighting a pattern of controlling and humiliating behavior exhibited by Robertson. According to BBC News, prosecutor John Keenan KC emphasized the credibility of the women’s accounts, stating they were “strong and overwhelming.”
Keenan also criticized Robertson’s own testimony, labeling it as “wholly incredible and unreliable.” Although Robertson acknowledged he was “no angel,” he denied all charges brought against him. Judge Lady Drummond has deferred sentencing until 23 July.
This conviction marks a significant moment in the ongoing discussion about domestic abuse and accountability in the entertainment industry.
