His Grace Anba Rewis, the Papal Vicar of the Diocese of Melbourne and its dependencies in Australia, presided over the Divine Liturgy this morning, Saturday, 5 September, at St. Mark Church in the Preston suburb of Melbourne, in the presence of a number of Coptic priests. After the Prayer of Reconciliation, His Grace completed the rite elevating the subdeacons Remon Benjamin and Amgad Hanna to the rank of deacon (“full deacon”), giving them the names Deacon Peter and Deacon David, amid the joy of the priests, subdeacons and congregation.The church prepared a celebration after the liturgy, during which Anba Rewis and the congregation offered their congratulations to the newly ordained deacons. One of them is scheduled to be ordained a priest to serve the altar and people of St. Mark Church on Saturday, 19 September, at the same church.
