Klaudia Zakrzewska, a social media influencer with over 270,000 followers on Instagram, has died six days after being struck by a car outside a nightclub in central London. The incident occurred on Argyll Street in Soho at 04:30 BST on 19 April. Zakrzewska was taken to the hospital but died on Saturday.
According to BBC News, Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell expressed condolences to Zakrzewska’s family and friends, stating, “We would like to express our deepest sympathies to Klaudia’s family and friends in light of this tragic update. Our thoughts are also with everyone impacted by this.”
Gabrielle Carrington, 29, has been charged with attempted murder in connection with the incident. Following Zakrzewska’s death, the charge of attempted murder will be amended to murder. Carrington, who has over 365,000 Instagram followers and participated in the X Factor live finals in 2013, also faces charges of grievous bodily harm with intent, actual bodily harm, dangerous driving, and drink driving.
Another victim, a 58-year-old man, suffered life-changing injuries, while a woman sustained a minor wrist injury. Carrington appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 21 April and was remanded into custody, with a scheduled appearance at the Old Bailey on 19 May.
A fundraiser initiated by Zakrzewska’s mother described her as having a “pure heart” and expressed the deep pain her family is experiencing during this time. Detective Chief Inspector Foxwell urged the public to refrain from further speculation regarding the case, acknowledging the significant interest generated on social media.
