INTERSECTION UPGRADE DELIVERS CONGESTION RELIEF IN BONNYRIGG HEIGHTS

In a win for local residents, the eastbound right hand turn lane into Wilson Road from Elizabeth Drive, Bonnyrigg Heights has been extended by around 120 metres to help ease congestion around the intersection.

Extending the right turn lane offers a longer refuge for vehicles turning right and reduces impacts on through traffic being blocked by vehicles needing to turn.

In addition to the benefits for through traffic, the turning refuge creates a safer environment for turning motorists.

The new turning lane will accommodate around 40 regular vehicles at a time.

Work also included realignment of the westbound lane along with resurfacing and line marking.

Funded through the Transport for NSW Network Efficiency Program, the works will deliver significant benefits in better managing congestion through the area.

“As someone who drives through this intersection regularly, I know how frustrating it can be when right-turning vehicles block the flow of traffic. This upgrade will make a real difference in easing that congestion.

“The NSW Government is committed to delivering practical, no-fuss improvements to our road network. Upgrades like this one will make everyday travel safer and smoother for residents in suburbs like Bonnyrigg Heights and Green Valley.
