Victoria Police are investigating reports of hidden cameras in the theatre change rooms at the Horsham Town Hall, following disturbing claims from a mother of two young dancers. Tracy Sutton expressed her shock and concern after learning about the alleged presence of cameras in the change rooms where her children prepared for a dance concert in November last year.
According to ABC News, police executed two search warrants in early April, seizing mobile phones, computers, and other electronic devices believed to have been used for the alleged recordings. Although police confirmed that the devices were allegedly used on multiple occasions, they did not disclose specific dates or the number of victims involved.
Sutton’s children, aged 10 and 7, performed at the venue and utilized the change rooms, raising significant concerns among parents about the safety of the facility. “Is it safe to have the kids perform a dance concert there and get changed in the change rooms, going forward?” Sutton questioned. She noted that other parents with children who had also used the facilities were equally disturbed by the news.
The Horsham Town Hall, a major performing arts center in the Wimmera region, has seen several events postponed in light of the ongoing investigation. The Horsham Arts Council’s production of the Wizard of Oz, scheduled from April 30 to May 10, is among those affected. Community members have expressed frustration over the lack of confirmed dates for the alleged incidents, leaving many uncertain about whether their children may have been impacted.
As the investigation unfolds, Victoria Police have urged anyone who believes they may have been affected by the alleged offending to contact Crime Stoppers. The local council has refrained from commenting on the active investigation, but the community remains on edge as they await further updates.
