A group of hackers linked to Iran has claimed responsibility for breaching the personal emails of FBI Director Kash Patel. The Handala Hack Team announced on Friday that they successfully accessed Patel’s emails, sharing various photographs and documents online. According to Al Jazeera, the hackers stated that Patel would now find his name among the list of successfully hacked victims.

The breach has been confirmed by news outlets including Reuters and CNN, which cited unnamed security officials. However, neither the FBI nor the Department of Justice has commented on the incident as of yet. The leaked documents reportedly include emails dating back over a decade, showcasing Patel’s travel and business correspondence, along with personal photos.

Kash Patel, who began his role as FBI Director in 2025, has faced criticism for allegedly misusing the agency for personal purposes and advancing political agendas. The Handala Hack Team, which claims to be pro-Palestinian, has also taken credit for a recent cyberattack on the medical device company Stryker, asserting that their actions are in response to U.S.-Israeli military actions in Iran.

The group indicated that their operations signify a new phase in cyber warfare, particularly in light of escalating tensions between Iran and Western nations. They have threatened to increase attacks on Western economic interests as a form of retaliation.
