Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Secretary Ali Larijani has issued a stark warning to the United States regarding potential military escalation. This comes after President Donald Trump threatened to take out Iran’s electric capacity “within one hour”. According to Al Jazeera, Larijani stated that if the U.S. strikes, it would lead to widespread darkness in the region, which could endanger U.S. servicemen.

Larijani emphasized the futility of starting a war through social media and vowed that Iran would not relent until the U.S. regretted its actions. His remarks followed Trump’s assertion that the U.S. had largely neutralized Iran’s military capabilities in the ongoing conflict, which began on February 28. Trump claimed that the U.S. could dismantle Iran’s electric capacity in just one hour.

The U.S. Central Command reported that approximately 6,000 targets have been struck in Iran since the onset of the military operations. This includes substantial damage to Iranian vessels, with over 90 affected, including more than 60 ships.

In a related statement, Iran’s new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei called for national unity and reiterated that the Strait of Hormuz would remain closed to pressure Iran’s adversaries. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has also pledged to prevent any oil passage through this crucial waterway.

As the conflict escalates, global oil prices have shown volatility, reflecting the ongoing U.S.-Israeli attacks on Iran and Iran’s retaliatory measures, which include missile and drone strikes across the Middle East. Trump remarked on social media that rising oil prices benefit the U.S. economically, while expressing his focus on preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
