Israeli attacks have killed at least four people in southern Lebanon’s Nabatieh district, according to state news reports. This escalation comes despite a recent three-week extension of a ceasefire with Hezbollah.

The Lebanese Ministry of Public Health’s emergency operations center confirmed that two Israeli raids targeted a truck and a motorcycle in the town of Yohmor al-Shaqif. The attacks have exacerbated tensions in the region, with reports of additional Israeli military actions in other areas, including the destruction of buildings in Bint Jbeil and bombings in Khiam.

According to Al Jazeera, the Israeli military has stated that its operations are a response to threats posed by Hezbollah. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu emphasized the country’s commitment to maintaining operational freedom against perceived dangers, asserting that Hezbollah is attempting to undermine the ceasefire.

The ongoing violence has led to widespread displacement among Lebanese civilians. Many families, like that of Huda Kamal Mansour, have been forced to seek refuge in makeshift shelters, such as an empty stadium in Beirut. Mansour recounted her harrowing experience of fleeing her home during the bombardment, highlighting the dire situation faced by those living in affected areas.

Hezbollah lawmaker Ali Fayyad criticized the ceasefire as ineffective, pointing to Israel’s continued military actions as justification for potential retaliation. The situation remains volatile as both sides navigate escalating hostilities, with civilians caught in the crossfire.
