Arabic version: غارة طائرة مسيرة إسرائيلية تودي بحياة فتاة صغيرة في غزة

An Israeli drone attack in Khan Younis, Gaza, resulted in the death of a young girl and at least one other Palestinian, according to medical sources. The attack occurred on Saturday, targeting makeshift tents that were sheltering displaced individuals, despite a declared ceasefire that designated parts of southern Gaza as safe zones. Four additional people were wounded in the strike.

The Gaza civil defense teams reported recovering seven injured individuals from the site of the drone attack in al-Mawasi, west of Khan Younis. These injured victims were subsequently transported to Nasser Hospital and the Red Cross Hospital for treatment.

Separately, a 10-year-old Palestinian succumbed to injuries sustained in an earlier Israeli bombardment of southern Gaza. This child, Walid Youssef Abu Jazar, died at Nasser Hospital after being wounded in an Israeli strike days prior.

According to Al Jazeera, reports indicate that Israeli airstrikes have continued despite the ceasefire, with drones frequently observed in the skies. This ongoing violence has drawn criticism, particularly regarding the impact on children, who have constituted a significant portion of casualties in the conflict.

A recent United Nations report highlighted the alarming frequency of child fatalities, noting that children made up about 30 percent of those killed since the start of the genocide in October 2023. Children’s rights advocates have expressed outrage over the lack of accountability and action to protect vulnerable populations in Gaza, emphasizing the urgent need for international intervention.
