Arabic version: غارات الطائرات الإسرائيلية تودي بحياة ثمانية أشخاص على طريق لبناني
At least eight people, including two children, have died following three Israeli drone strikes on vehicles on a major highway linking Beirut to southern Lebanon. The strikes occurred in the Jiyeh area, approximately 20 kilometers south of Beirut, as reported by Lebanon’s Ministry of Health.
Images shared by Lebanon’s National News Agency show the bombed vehicles severely damaged, their exteriors charred and torn apart. The attacks took place on Wednesday, intensifying the ongoing conflict in the region.
According to Al Jazeera, the situation in southern Lebanon is dire, with reports indicating that the civilian population is facing increasing dangers. The Israeli military has also issued forced displacement orders for several villages in southern Lebanon, warning residents that they are at risk if they remain.
The ongoing violence has led to a humanitarian crisis, with over a million people displaced. The Lebanese Ministry of Public Health reported that at least 380 people have been killed during the current truce, raising the total death toll since the onset of hostilities on March 2 to more than 2,800. The impact on healthcare has been significant, with 108 emergency medical services and healthcare workers reported killed in Lebanon during the conflict.
