Israeli shelling in Gaza persists despite a ceasefire deal signed in October, resulting in over 600 Palestinian deaths since its inception. According to Middle East Eye, at least two Palestinians were killed in the past 24 hours, with reports of seven air strikes launched early Sunday, particularly targeting Rafah and areas east of Gaza City.

The violence included the shooting of a 27-year-old woman, Basma Aram Banat, by Israeli forces in Beit Lahia. Additionally, reports indicate ongoing demolitions and infrastructure destruction in the Zeitoun neighborhood, further exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in the region.

Since the ceasefire began, the Palestinian health ministry has recorded approximately 1,700 Israeli violations, which include the denial of medical treatments and transfers abroad. The ongoing violence has left 614 Palestinians dead and 1,643 injured during this period.

Tragically, an infant named Nidal Abu Rabi died due to medical complications after being denied an exit permit for treatment abroad. This incident highlights the dire state of healthcare in the blockaded Gaza Strip, where the system has collapsed under ongoing restrictions. Despite the reopening of the Rafah crossing earlier this month, only a fraction of medical requests have been fulfilled, with Israel reportedly complying with just 33 percent of requests.

The Government Media Office in Gaza has revealed that more than 9,300 wounded and sick Palestinians have died since October 2023, largely due to the collapse of medical care and Israel’s ban on medical evacuations. The ongoing conflict has resulted in significant loss of life and destruction of infrastructure, with nearly 90 percent of Gaza’s facilities reported as damaged or destroyed.
