Israel’s National Security Council on Sunday urged citizens to avoid returning to Israel through Jordan or Sinai.

“In light of Ben Gurion Airport’s closure until further notice, private initiatives have emerged for reaching Israel via land routes, landing at an airport in Sinai/Jordan, and then flying to Israel,” the Council stated in a press release.

“We wish to emphasize that Level IV travel warnings apply to Sinai and Jordan, reflecting a significant threat, and we recommend avoiding these areas.”

The Council further noted, “The importance of these warnings increases during this tense period.” It advised “Israelis residing abroad who are awaiting return to Israel to wait for updates on this matter from the Ministry of Transport.”
