Arabic version: الضربات الإسرائيلية تتسبب في أضرار لمستشفى في صور، والغزو البري مستمر
According to Al Jazeera,
Israeli air strikes have caused significant damage to a hospital in the coastal Lebanese city of Tyre, injuring 11 people, according to Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health. The director of the Lebanese Italian Hospital told the state-run National News Agency (NNA) that the facility would remain open to provide the necessary medical care despite the damage.
The air strikes destroyed two nearby buildings, shattered windows in the hospital, and caused suspended ceilings to collapse. In addition to the hospital attack, strikes on the Tyre region included a hit on the port, which resulted in at least one fatality and damage to boats moored nearby. Furthermore, an Israeli drone strike targeted a motorbike on the northern outskirts of Tyre, killing at least two people.
In a move to escalate military actions, the Israeli military issued a forced displacement order for residents of Tyre, indicating plans for further strikes on Hezbollah targets. While tens of thousands have already fled Tyre, around 20,000 residents remain, including 15,000 displaced from surrounding villages.
As part of a broader ground invasion, Israeli forces have destroyed houses in several southern villages and bombed bridges, claiming these infrastructures were being utilized by Hezbollah. Rights groups have condemned these actions, suggesting they aim to isolate southern Lebanon. The situation remains dire, with ongoing air attacks reported in various towns across the region.
Despite the intensity of the offensive, experts believe Israel may struggle to achieve its goal of disarming Hezbollah. Heiko Wimmen from the International Crisis Group noted that even if Israel manages to push Hezbollah from specific areas, it is unlikely to eliminate the group entirely. The ongoing conflict has resulted in significant casualties, with Lebanon’s Health Ministry reporting at least 1,368 deaths and over 4,138 injuries since the escalation began.
