Arabic version: تكتيكات الجيش الإسرائيلي في لبنان تعكس عمليات غزة
The Israeli military is reportedly applying its tactics from Gaza to Lebanon, as confirmed by the nonprofit group Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP). This warning comes as ongoing Israeli attacks have led to the forced displacement of hundreds of thousands of Lebanese civilians.
According to Al Jazeera, MAP’s CEO Steve Cutts stated that the bombings and displacement orders are instilling widespread fear among civilians. He characterized the situation as an extension of the Israeli military playbook used in Gaza, which includes collective punishment and the deliberate terrorization of civilian populations.
On March 6, the Israeli military issued a forced displacement order for all of southern Lebanon, leading to a mass exodus of residents. A similar order was issued for the southern suburbs of Beirut the following day, coinciding with an escalation of air and ground assaults in the region.
Since the renewed conflict began, at least 217 people have been reported killed, with 798 others injured, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health. Human rights organizations have condemned the forced displacement orders, highlighting that many families lack safe shelter as existing facilities are overwhelmed.
Reports indicate that displaced individuals are resorting to sleeping on the streets or in schools repurposed as reception centers. The ongoing crisis has left many residents uncertain about the duration of their displacement, with local authorities unable to provide answers. Israeli officials have drawn parallels between the current situation in Lebanon and previous military operations in Gaza, further intensifying concerns over humanitarian conditions in the region.
