Arabic version: جيلاروز تكتسح إنجلترا 78-0 وروبنسون تتعرض لكسر في المعصم
According to ABC News, the Jillaroos defeated England 78-0 in Perth at the Women’s Rugby League World Cup, but the result was overshadowed by a tournament-ending broken wrist for centre Julia Robinson. Robinson scored in the 16th minute before her left arm became trapped in a tackle involving teammate Shaylee Bent and England winger Amelia Brown. She was taken from the field and later to hospital.
Australia produced a 15-try performance, with 11 players crossing the line. Jaime Chapman, Jocelyn Kelleher, captain Isabelle Kelly and Abbi Church each scored doubles. Bent was Australia’s 11th and final try-scorer, while Tiana Penitani Gray, Tarryn Aiken, Olivia Kernick, Quincy Dodd and Makenzie Weale also scored.
The Jillaroos led 36-0 at half-time after seven tries and continued to pull away in the second half. Australia completed at 80 per cent and kept England scoreless. Liv Kernick was named player of the match.
The win put Australia on top of Pool A as the only team with two victories, following a 40-0 opening-match win over Samoa. The Jillaroos now have a points differential of 118-0. Their margin against England fell short of Australia’s 90-4 victory over the same opponent in Las Vegas in early 2025.
The match was part of a round marked by one-sided World Cup results. England’s men beat France 82-0, Samoa defeated PNG 64-6, Fiji’s women beat the Orchids 40-4, Fetu Samoa defeated Wales 76-0 and Tonga beat Lebanon 36-0.
