According to ABC News, Christopher Mark Jordan will stand trial on April 19, 2027, accused of murdering 14-year-old Shyanne-Lee Tatnell.

Jordan, 39, of Scottsdale, appeared in the Supreme Court in Launceston by video link from Risdon Prison. He has pleaded not guilty to the murder charge.

Justice Michael Brett told the court the trial date was set nearly four years after Tatnell, a Burnie teenager, went missing while staying at a Launceston youth hostel. Her remains were found almost three months later off a dirt track at Nabowla, north-east of Launceston.

Jordan was arrested the day after the remains were found. He was charged with murder and entered a not-guilty plea in 2024.

The trial is expected to run for five weeks and will be heard by Justice Brett. A further directions hearing, for parties to discuss potential pre-trial issues, is scheduled for November 27, 2026.
