The Granville State Electoral Council (SEC) of the Australian Labor Party, under the leadership of Julia Finn MP, celebrated the close of the year with a combined SEC and branches meeting, followed by a festive barbecue. This event, held on Sunday, 26 November 2023, at the scenic Yarrabee shelter in Merrylands Central Gardens, 71 Paton Street, Merrylands, was a blend of productive discussions and social enjoyment, marking a significant occasion for party members.

Set against the tranquil backdrop of the Merrylands Central Gardens, the Yarrabee shelter provided a peaceful environment for the day’s activities. The meeting, beginning at 1.00 pm, was a vital platform for reviewing the year’s activities, discussing future strategies, and addressing key issues that concern both the Granville area and the wider objectives of the Australian Labor Party.

The presence of notable figures such as Councillors Ola Hamed and Glen Enmore, along with ex-MP Laurie Ferguson, added a layer of insight and experience to the discussions. Their participation enriched the conversation, contributing to a comprehensive understanding of both political and community-related issues.

Following the formal meeting, a barbecue for all branch members started at 1.30 pm. This gathering was as much a celebration of the past year’s achievements as it was an opportunity for members to mingle in an informal setting. The barbecue allowed for casual interactions, fostering a sense of camaraderie and connection among the members, which is crucial for the unity and strength of the party.

The end-of-year SEC meeting and barbecue, steered by Julia Finn MP, highlighted the vibrant community spirit and dedication within the Granville SEC of the Australian Labor Party. It underscored the significance of regular engagement among members, reinforcing their commitment and readiness for the upcoming year’s challenges and opportunities.
