Arabic version: تم إصدار فيديو اعتقال جاستن تيمبرليك بتهمة القيادة تحت تأثير الكحول بعد معركة قانونية
The bodycam footage of Justin Timberlake’s DWI arrest has been made public, despite his legal attempts to prevent its release. The video shows the pop star struggling with field sobriety tests after being pulled over by police in Sag Harbor, New York, on June 18, 2024. According to The Guardian, Timberlake was stopped for allegedly running a stop sign and veering out of his lane.
In the footage, Timberlake can be seen telling officers that the sobriety tests are “really hard” as he attempts to walk a straight line and stand on one leg. He admits to consuming one martini and explains that he was following friends home. At one point, he identifies himself to the officer, saying, “I’m Justin Timberlake.”
The video, which runs for approximately eight hours, captures Timberlake’s interactions with the police, including moments of nervousness and confusion. He expresses disbelief when informed that he would be held overnight, asking, “I’m going to be here all night? You guys are wild, man.”
The release of the video followed an agreement between Sag Harbor officials and Timberlake’s legal team, who initially sought to block it due to concerns about privacy and potential damage to his reputation. However, both parties ultimately agreed that the footage did not constitute an unwarranted invasion of personal privacy under state law.
Timberlake pleaded guilty to impaired driving in September 2024, about three months after the arrest. As part of his plea deal, he was fined $500, sentenced to 25 hours of community service, and received a 90-day suspension of his driver’s license. He also agreed to deliver a public safety announcement addressing the dangers of drunk driving.
