According to ABC News, North Melbourne survived a Carlton scare at Arden Street to win 4.9 (33) to 3.5 (23), remaining unbeaten this AFLW season and extending its record winning streak to 32 matches.
More than 3,500 supporters watched Carlton take a three-point lead early in the second quarter after goals against the breeze to Nell Morris-Dalton and Lila Keck. North Melbourne responded through a 40-metre set shot from Tahlia Randall and a running goal from Blaithin Bogue, taking a nine-point advantage into the main break.
Ash Riddell collected 39 disposals, including 15 and four inside 50s in the opening term. Jasmine Garner added 30 disposals, five clearances and a goal. Carlton captain Abbie McKay had 27 disposals and five clearances, while Lily Goss helped set up Erone Fitzpatrick’s third-quarter goal with a two-bounce, tackle-busting run.
Garner’s late major gave the Kangaroos an eight-point lead at three-quarter time before a goalless final term. Goss had a chance to cut the margin from 10 points after marking 35 metres out, but played on and was immediately tackled. North Melbourne improved to 5-0, while Carlton fell to 4-1 after losing by 53 points to the Kangaroos last year.
