Baroness Karren Brady has stepped down as vice-chair of West Ham United after 16 years in the role. She officially left the position on 15 April 2026, having made her decision to resign in mid-February. Brady was appointed by joint-chairs David Sullivan and David Gold in January 2010.

According to BBC News, Brady expressed gratitude in her statement, reflecting on her time at the club and highlighting the achievement of winning the UEFA Europa Conference League as a significant milestone.

During her tenure, Brady oversaw West Ham’s transition from Upton Park to the London Stadium in 2016 and was instrumental in securing a long-term contract for the stadium. She also played a key role in the record transfer of Declan Rice to Arsenal for £105 million.

Despite the club’s successes, West Ham is currently facing relegation threats, sitting just two points above the relegation zone with five matches remaining. Brady’s departure comes with mixed reactions from supporters, some of whom have protested against her and co-owner Sullivan over various issues, including team performance and stadium dissatisfaction.

Joint-chair Daniel Kretinsky acknowledged Brady’s contributions, noting that her efforts have been essential to the club’s growth, even if not fully appreciated. Sullivan praised her leadership and impact on West Ham’s development, calling her an exceptional leader.
