Arabic version: كاتي زكريا تستعد لأول إحاطة صحفية في البيت الأبيض
According to The Guardian, Katie Zacharia is scheduled to hold her first briefing for reporters as White House press secretary at 9.30am ET on Tuesday. Zacharia has replaced Karoline Leavitt, who left the role at the end of August after the birth of her second child.
President Donald Trump announced on Friday that he had selected Zacharia for the position. In a Truth Social post, Trump described her as a “devoted fan” and said she had an “unblemished record of support,” calling her a loyal and brilliant supporter from the beginning.
Zacharia recently served as a communications adviser to the parent company of Truth Social, The Guardian reported. She has also been a frequent commentator on conservative talkshows, where she often defended Trump administration policies.
Before taking the White House role, Zacharia reportedly monitored Trump’s public schedule and Truth Social activity daily, Politico reported, citing a person familiar with the matter. That source said high-profile conservative anchors from Fox News, Newsmax and OANN also backed her appointment.
Zacharia is set to become the sixth person to hold the press secretary role across both of Trump’s terms in office. Her appearance at the White House podium will be her first formal briefing in the position.
