The President of South Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit, has held high-level talks with Uganda’s President, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, aimed at deepening relations between the two neighbouring nations.

The discussions focused on enhancing political and economic cooperation, as well as addressing key issues relating to regional peace and security. Both leaders explored practical ways to further strengthen the partnership between Juba and Kampala, recognising the importance of close collaboration in a rapidly evolving regional landscape.

During the meeting, the two presidents reaffirmed their commitment to joint initiatives across several strategic areas. These include strengthening border security, advancing road and railway infrastructure linking the two countries, improving power connectivity, and supporting each other on regional and international platforms. They also emphasised continued cooperation on broader peace and security efforts across the region.

The talks underscored the longstanding friendship and shared history between South Sudan and Uganda, highlighting a mutual commitment to stability, development, and sustained cooperation.
