President Salva Kiir Mayardit departed Juba this morning for Djibouti to attend the inauguration ceremony of H.E. Ismail Omar Guelleh, President of the Republic of Djibouti.
During the visit, President Kiir and President Guelleh are expected to hold bilateral discussions aimed at strengthening ties between South Sudan and Djibouti, with a focus on economic cooperation, regional stability, and deeper integration within the Horn of Africa.
South Sudan and Djibouti continue to share a common vision centred on peace, stability, and sustainable economic growth across the region.
Djibouti’s strategic geoeconomic location as a gateway to international trade presents significant opportunities for South Sudan, particularly in improving access to seaports, facilitating exports, and enhancing regional connectivity and commerce.
Officials say President Kiir’s participation in the ceremony reflects South Sudan’s commitment to strengthening regional partnerships, advancing cooperation, and promoting shared prosperity throughout the Horn of Africa.
