According to The Guardian, Australia drew 1-1 with Brazil in an international friendly at Queensland Country Bank Stadium in Townsville after Rayan scored deep in added time to cancel out Nestory Irankunda’s free kick.

Irankunda gave the Socceroos the lead in the 68th minute, sending a free kick over the Brazilian wall from about 25 yards. The 20-year-old celebrated with back flips after goalkeeper Hugo Souza could only watch the ball enter the net.

Brazil, coached by Carlo Ancelotti and featuring Bruno Guimarães, Raphinha, Vinícius Júnior, Endrick and Estêvão in the starting side, pushed for an equaliser. Raphinha delivered a corner from the left with the last kick of the game, and Rayan headed the ball goalward. Patrick Beach got a touch, but the effort ricocheted off the crossbar and crossed the line.

Australia coach Tony Popovic said the quiet mood in the dressing room was a sign of progress after his side had held the lead until the final moments. Ancelotti said Brazil had chances and earned a deserved draw, while also describing the pitch as difficult to play on.

Estêvão had a goal ruled out by VAR just before half-time after Bruno Guimarães was judged to have fouled Harry Souttar in the buildup. The sold-out crowd was 25,440.
