Liverpool City Council is calling on the community to shine a spotlight on the people who make Liverpool such a vibrant and caring place, with nominations now open for the 2026 Liverpool Civic Awards.
Residents are encouraged to nominate individuals, community groups and organisations whose dedication, service and achievements have made a lasting impact on the local community.
Mayor Ned Mannoun said the awards are an opportunity to recognise the quiet achievers and community champions who help make Liverpool a wonderful place to live.
“Every day across Liverpool, there are people going above and beyond for others,” Mayor Mannoun said.
“The Civic Awards are our chance to recognise and celebrate those individuals and groups whose commitment, generosity and leadership strengthen our community.”
“I encourage everyone to take a moment to nominate someone they know. It could be a neighbour, a volunteer, a local organisation or a community leader. These are the people who make Liverpool the strong, connected city it is today.”
The Liverpool Civic Awards feature two prestigious programs.
The Order of Liverpool recognises long-term voluntary service that has enhanced the quality of life across the Liverpool local government area, honouring those who have made a meaningful and lasting contribution over many years.
The Australia Day Citizen of the Year Awards celebrate individuals and community groups who have demonstrated outstanding service across areas including sport, education, community engagement, arts and culture, environmental care, leadership and acts of kindness and bravery.
Liverpool City Council encourages all nominations to be submitted online, making it quick and easy to recognise those who make a real difference.

Nominations for the Order of Liverpool close on Thursday 17 September 2026 at 9.00pm, while nominations for the Australia Day Citizen of the Year Awards close on Thursday 19 November 2026 at 9.00pm.

The Liverpool Civic Awards recognising individuals, community groups and organisations that have made an outstanding contribution to the Liverpool community.
The awards program features two key categories: the Order of Liverpool and the Australia Day Citizen of the Year Awards.
The Order of Liverpool honours individuals who have demonstrated long-term voluntary service that has enhanced the quality of life across the Liverpool local government area. Awards are presented at three levels based on years of service:
- Member of the Order of Liverpool (5+ years of service),
- Officer of the Order of Liverpool (10+ years of service) and
- Companion of the Order of Liverpool (15+ years of service).
- Honorary recognition is also available for non-residents who have made a significant contribution to Liverpool and meet the category minimum years of service required
The Australia Day Citizen of the Year Awards recognise individuals and community groups who have gone above and beyond in areas such as sport, education, community engagement, arts and culture, environmental care, leadership and volunteering.
Categories include
- Young Citizen of the Year (16–30 years),
- Citizen of the Year (31–64 years),
- Senior Citizen of the Year (65 years and over), and a
- Community Group Award.
Nominations are open to all members of the community, with individuals only needing to be nominated once to be considered.
