In the vibrant athletic field of the Crest Sporting Complex in Bass Hill, the atmosphere was electric and the stands were full of passionate fans, all gathered to witness the spectacular Grand Finals of the ALFA (Australian Lebanese Football Association) Cup 2023. With semi-finals and finals unfolding in a ground that echoed with cheers, jeers, and the unified chants of spectators, the event was nothing short of a carnival for football enthusiasts.

A Riveting Journey to the Finals

The journey to the finals was an amalgamation of skills, tactics, and nail-biting moments that kept the fans on the edge of their seats. The semi-final between Lebanon and Qatar was a remarkable show of grit and strategy. The match concluded with a 3-3 draw, propelling the teams into a penalty shootout, wherein Lebanon emerged victorious with a 3-1 score, securing their spot in the grand finale.

Concurrently, Australia and Hong Kong battled fiercely in a tightly-contested match that ended with Australia outscoring Hong Kong 4-3, and thereby earning their position in the grand final. The match was a beautiful display of football, with both teams demonstrating incredible skill, endurance, and determination.

Canterbury Bankstown Deputy Mayor, Rachelle Harika, was also present during the first game of the semi-finals, extending her support and encouragement to the players and the organisers.

It is also worth noting that the tournament took place on two dates this year, contrary to the previous 8 editions. The knockouts took place on the 8th of October at Jim Ring Reserve. The Lions Club of Canterbury Bankstown managed the sausage sizzle on both days.
