Arabic version: أصدقاء وزملاء يتذكرون ضحايا حادث ليدكورت
According to ABC News, friends and colleagues have remembered Michael Zheng, 38, and his wife Angela Wang, 31, as “wonderful people” after they died in a multi-vehicle crash at Ledcourt in Victoria’s west. The married healthcare workers died at the scene after their car collided with a Mitsubishi Triton and a truck at about 6.45pm on September 27.
The couple had recently marked their fifth wedding anniversary and lived in Horsham, about 300 kilometres west of Melbourne. Mr Zheng had recently been promoted to manager of the Horsham Dentist Group, while Ms Wang worked as a nurse at Grampians Health. Friend JingJing Tang said they had received Australian permanent residency last year and were happy about building their lives in Australia.
Ms Tang said the couple had spoken about a new home being built in Ballarat and their hopes of having a child. She recalled a meal with them at her newly opened takeaway restaurant a few months earlier, saying the ordinary and happy conversation had become a precious memory. She said they had “so many hopes, plans and dreams ahead of them”.
Colleagues at the dental clinic said they were shocked when Mr Zheng did not respond on Monday, describing the period before the couple were identified as torturous. Simon Yan called him a “lovely and warm” person who supported the team, while clinic owner and dentist Catherine Feng said staff were devastated and that the clinic felt emptier without him.
The crash also claimed the life of 14-year-old Mitsubishi passenger Tenesha Fieldsend, who later died in hospital. She had been returning from a volleyball tournament in Horsham with her family. Sale Catholic College said the Year 8 student’s loss had been deeply felt across its community. Victoria Police said the investigation into the crash is continuing.
