According to BBC News, world champion Luke Littler has said he could stop playing darts events in the Netherlands after being booed and whistled at during the World Series of Darts Finals in Amsterdam.

The 19-year-old was jeered during his win over Dutch player Danny Noppert on Friday. In Saturday’s quarter-final against Nathan Aspinall, the referee halted play to warn the crowd about its behaviour before Littler completed a narrow victory.

Asked by Online Darts whether he would take the same approach to Dutch tournaments as he has in Germany, Littler replied: “100%.” He has faced similar crowd treatment in Germany and has stopped playing European Tour events there.

Littler said he would assess the reception at the European Championship in Dortmund in October. He added that if Dutch crowds continued behaving in the same way, he would not play Euro Tour events there, saying he wanted to play darts and sign autographs.

He said he had left the stage without thanking spectators over the previous two nights because of the booing. Littler was also jeered during his victory over Rob Cross at the PDC World Championship in December, when he said ticket sales and prize money meant he was not bothered by the reaction.
