According to BBC News, Lucy Davis, who played Dawn Tinsley in the original UK version of The Office, has revealed that she has incurable stage 4 breast cancer that has spread to her bones.

In an Instagram post on Tuesday, the 53-year-old actress said she was diagnosed a year-and-a-half ago. She said the cancer had metastasized to her spine, right hip and ribs, and that it was too late for chemotherapy.

Davis said the initial sign was a very small hard spot which she almost did not have checked. She urged others not to ignore anything and to get everything checked out. She said she was trying to live whatever time may be left in as fun a way as possible and was not scared of what comes next.

The actress said she still wanted to work and was able to do so, describing acting as one of the biggest joys in her life. She also said she intended to continue supporting animal rights, which she called important to her.

Davis received support from fans and well-wishers, including The Office US actor Jenna Fischer. Davis also appeared in Shaun of the Dead, Wonder Woman and Netflix series The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

Cancer Research UK says stage four breast cancer begins in breast tissue and spreads to another part of the body, making it incurable, although treatment can control it for some years.
