On the evening of 11 February 2026, the Australian Arab Business Council (AABC) brought together professionals, entrepreneurs, and community leaders at La Castelle Venue in Bankstown for its February Dinner Meeting — an event that transformed one of the most intimidating topics in business into something unexpectedly engaging.
Headlining the evening was Sam Ayoubi of AHS Legal — a Chartered Accountant, lawyer, and strategic adviser with more than 25 years of experience advising institutions ranging from the ATO to the Australian Government Solicitor and major consulting firms.
The session, titled Tax Tips and Traps for 2026, explored critical financial considerations for the year ahead, including business structuring, succession planning, property investments, GST, CGT, and navigating ATO processes such as audits and rulings.

Yet what truly defined the evening was not just the depth of insight — but the delivery.
Despite the complexity and seriousness of tax law, Ayoubi succeeded in making the subject relatable, digestible, and at times even humorous. Through real-life scenarios and sharp wit, he reframed taxation from a looming compliance burden into something practical and human — something that business owners and professionals could understand, engage with, and even laugh about.
Attendees found themselves reflecting not only on financial strategy, but on the mindset with which they approach taxation — shifting from fear to clarity.
The presentation highlighted:
- Smarter strategic structuring for both businesses and families
- Navigating property and investment tax obligations
- Preparing for potential ATO scrutiny with resilience
In addition to the keynote session, the evening also marked an important milestone for the organisation, with the AABC Annual General Meeting taking place. Members participated in the governance process, resulting in the election of a new board to guide the Council’s direction in the year ahead.
Beyond the formal proceedings, the gathering reinforced the Council’s ongoing mission to strengthen professional dialogue within the Arab-Australian business community, bringing members together to exchange expertise and foster collaboration.
As discussions continued over dinner and networking, the atmosphere reflected the core achievement of the night: turning an often-daunting subject into a shared conversation — serious in impact, yet refreshingly accessible in tone.
In a landscape where tax is frequently viewed as dry or overwhelming, this event demonstrated that the right perspective — and the right storyteller — can make even the most complex obligations feel understandable, strategic, and, at moments, surprisingly entertaining — while also ushering in a new leadership chapter for the Council.
