According to The Guardian, a man has been arrested after a 10-year-old boy and a woman were allegedly attacked in Melbourne’s CBD. Victoria Police said officers responded to reports of the incident at about 1pm.

Police said the boy, from the Bass Coast region, was allegedly punched in the upper body. A 30-year-old woman from Cowes allegedly intervened and was then stabbed in the upper body with a pair of scissors, authorities said.

A 27-year-old man from Sunshine West was arrested at the scene. Police said they seized a pair of scissors and that the man remains in custody. Authorities believe the alleged attacker and the alleged victims were not known to one another.
