A 31-year-old man has been taken into custody north of Brisbane after allegedly stealing a car from Morayfield early this morning and causing a serious traffic crash. The incident occurred early on Monday morning in Morayfield, leading to a significant emergency response.
According to ABC News, emergency services were dispatched to Victoria Lane and Archer Street in Woodford around 6:10 AM, where they found a two-car collision. A 60-year-old woman from Caboolture South, who was driving the other vehicle, was assessed by paramedics and reported to be in a life-threatening condition.
Following the crash, the male driver of the allegedly stolen car fled the scene on foot. Police located and arrested him at a nearby school about 8:30 AM. The school entered lockdown during the search for the suspect.
In response to the incident, authorities closed the D’Aguilar Highway in both directions south of Margaret Street in Woodford, implementing diversions via Archer Street Service Road. Police have advised drivers to avoid the area due to expected delays.
