According to ABC News, a 68-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries after being struck by his own vehicle while trying to stop it from being stolen in Melbourne’s north-east.
Victoria Police said emergency services were called to Blackwood Parade in Heidelberg West at about 7:30pm on Saturday following reports that a man had been hit by a vehicle.
Investigators were told the man was attempting to prevent an unknown offender from taking his car when the vehicle struck him. He was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The offender fled the scene in the man’s vehicle. No arrests have been made.
Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives attended the scene and the investigation remains ongoing. Police have asked anyone with information or dash-camera footage to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
