Arabic version: رجل يُرفض الإفراج بكفالة بعد إطلاق نار مزعوم في منزل شقيقته
Daniel Gene Murray, 53, has been refused bail following an alleged shooting incident at his sister’s home in Corrimal. The court heard that shots were fired during a family dispute over access to a shed, with Murray reportedly entering the property armed and heavily intoxicated.
According to ABC News, Murray was arrested on Easter Sunday around 6:40 PM. He faces five charges, including possessing an unregistered firearm and ammunition while unlicensed, unsafe firearm storage, firing a weapon at a dwelling-house, and aggravated break and enter. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries from the incident.
During the court proceedings, Murray’s defense lawyer argued that the dispute was over an agreement regarding the shed, which had been reneged by his brother-in-law. Despite his claims of being unaware of anyone being home during the incident, the prosecution presented evidence contradicting this assertion.
Judge Kathryn Jurd ruled against bail, citing the serious nature of the charges and the potential risk to the public. The case is set to return to court later this week for further proceedings.
