According to ABC News, a 26-year-old man has been extradited from Poland to Australia and charged with murder. He was due to appear in bail court after arriving in Sydney, police said.

Police allege the man was involved in the murder of a 22-year-old man from Peakhurst. The 22-year-old’s body was found in a large metal cabinet in a creek at Macksville on the NSW Mid-North Coast in 2023. The case was investigated by Strike Force Almug, which was examining alleged drug supply in the Caringbah area linked to the 22-year-old.

The 26-year-old had been living in Poland, police said. With assistance from Polish authorities and national law-enforcement partners, detectives secured his arrest before travelling overseas to facilitate his extradition. Homicide squad detectives travelled to Poland on Sunday, September 18, to arrest him.

He was escorted to Sydney International Airport on Friday and taken to Mascot Police Station, where he was charged with murder. Police said he was refused bail and was to appear in court that day. Two other men had previously been convicted over the incident: one pleaded guilty to manslaughter and the other was convicted of being an accessory after the fact to manslaughter.
