According to ABC News, a man was rescued after falling 30 metres into a rock crevice at San Remo, about 120 kilometres south-east of Melbourne.

Emergency services were called to the coastal area following reports that the man had fallen and become trapped off the George Bass Coastal Walk at about 2.10pm on Saturday.

Crews were able to communicate with the 50-year-old, who said he had broken his leg. Difficult terrain and a rising tide hindered efforts to reach him.

An Ambulance Victoria helicopter was deployed, alongside personnel from Fire Rescue Victoria, the Country Fire Authority, State Emergency Service, Air Wing, Search and Rescue Squad, Life Saving Victoria and Water Police. Search and Rescue officers entered the crevice to assess the man before he was winched to safety at about 5.30pm.

He was flown to Royal Melbourne Hospital in a stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.
