Arabic version: ابن مؤسس مانغو محتجز في تحقيق مستمر حول وفاة والده
Police in Spain have detained Jonathan Andic, the son of Mango’s founder Isak Andic, as part of an investigation into his father’s death in December 2024. Isak Andic died after falling more than 100 metres from a cliff while hiking with family members near the Mediterranean city of Barcelona. Initially, his death was classified as an accident, but authorities in Catalonia later shifted the investigation to consider the possibility of homicide.
According to ABC News, a family spokesperson confirmed that Jonathan Andic is being questioned by investigators, though specific details were not disclosed. The spokesperson emphasized that the family remains confident in Jonathan’s innocence and expressed a commitment to cooperate fully with the investigation.
The court overseeing the case indicated last year that the investigation was not focused on any particular individual. Jonathan Andic, currently the vice-chairman of Mango’s board, is expected to be transferred to an investigating court to provide testimony before a judge soon. The details of the ongoing probe remain sealed.
Isak Andic, who was born in Istanbul and moved to Catalonia in the 1960s, founded Mango in 1984. He grew the brand into a significant competitor to Zara, serving as its non-executive chairman at the time of his death. His net worth was estimated at $US4.5 billion, and the company reported sales of 3.8 billion euros in 2025. Mango has declined to comment on the recent developments regarding the investigation.
