According to Allafrica, National Police Commissioner General Fannie Masemola is set to return to his Pretoria office after a six-month precautionary suspension was lifted. The reported return follows the withdrawal in September of charges against him because of insufficient evidence.

Masemola was suspended in April over alleged tender fraud linked to businessman Vusimusi “Cat” Matlala. The source said the commissioner has five months remaining in his term. His return comes while the police service continues to face scrutiny over allegations of criminal infiltration.

He is expected to meet provincial and divisional police commissioners on returning to the office. The report did not give a date for those meetings or provide further details on the expected discussions.
