Matrouh Governorate in northern Egypt has announced a ban on swimming at certain beaches due to high waves.
In a statement, the governorate said, “Our dear guests, please adhere to the instructions of beach managers in case of changing sea conditions, such as increased wave height and clouds. Please refrain from swimming and immediately exit the water at the following open beaches: Al Abyad, Um El Rukhm, and Ageeba. This is to ensure the safety and lives of beachgoers.”
The statement confirmed that the safe beaches where swimming and enjoyment are permitted are: Romel, Al Nakheel,Basant, Matrouh Al Aam, Al Awam, and Lido.
It also emphasized that swimming and entering the water at Cleopatra and Al Gharam attractions is prohibited.
