Kataeb Sydney warmly invites the Lebanese community and friends to a special memorial mass commemorating the legacy of President Bashir Gemayel, a leader who dedicated his life to the vision of a united and sovereign Lebanon. This heartfelt tribute will take place on 15 September 2024 at 11:15 a.m. at St Charbel’s Maronite Church, Punchbowl.
Bashir Gemayel was more than a political leader; he was a symbol of courage and hope for many during one of Lebanon’s most turbulent times. As the President-elect in 1982, Gemayel’s vision for Lebanon was one of unity and strength, a dream tragically cut short by his assassination just days before he could formally take office. Despite his brief time as President, his legacy continues to inspire generations, both in Lebanon and among the Lebanese diaspora.
Why Attend?
This memorial mass is a chance for the Lebanese-Australian community to come together, reflect on the life and values of Bashir Gemayel, and honour the sacrifices he made for Lebanon. Organised by Kataeb Sydney, the event not only pays tribute to his memory but also reaffirms the enduring connection between Lebanese expatriates and their homeland. It’s an opportunity to unite in remembrance, share in cultural pride, and rekindle the spirit of hope for a better future for Lebanon.
