According to ABC News, Dean Jason Milley has been jailed after messaging teenage boys online and offering money and vapes in exchange for child sex abuse material.
The Latrobe Valley County Court heard that Milley, a Longwarry man who was 53 when he was caught, used the website Daddy Hunt to send and seek explicit videos from teenage boys. The court heard he bought vapes online for a 12-year-old boy in Western Australia, who had told Milley he was 14.
Judge Diana Manova said Milley provided vapes purchased from Alibaba in exchange for material made and sent by the boy. She described the conversations with young boys as highly sexualised and depraved, and said they showed Milley’s desire to meet them and engage in sexual activity.
Milley was sentenced to five-and-a-half years in prison on Commonwealth charges of using a carriage service to transmit, solicit and cause child abuse material to be transmitted, and using a carriage service to groom a person under 16. He also received 15 months on Victorian charges involving reporting obligations and a prohibition order; that sentence had already been served in pre-sentence detention.
The court heard Milley had previous offences in 1994, 2006 and 2018. Judge Manova referred to a 2018 diagnosis of paedophilic and hebephilic disorders and said his past offending and failures to comply with reporting obligations indicated poor rehabilitation prospects. Milley will be eligible for parole in three years.
