NSW Labor says the revelations today about the letter the NSW Building Commissioner sent last month to prematurely resign from his position are deeply concerning.

David Chandler was the first person appointed to the role of NSW Building Commissioner in 2019, after a forty-year career in the Australian construction industry. He was charged with leading the Government’s response to the many issues plaguing the building industry.

However, he abruptly resigned a fortnight ago, after earlier this year signing a contract extension to September 2023.

Courtney Houssos MLC, Shadow Minister for Better Regulation and Innovation said:

“This raises more questions about the sacking of former Minister Petinos by Premier Perrottet.”

“The Opposition is calling on the Premier to immediately release the full resignation letter from the Building Commissioner.”

“The Premier must explain if the matters raised by the Building Commissioner contributed to his decision to sack her.”
