The Jordanian community in Sydney enjoyed a beautiful Iftar hosted by Mr. Maher Magableh at the Bellevue Venue in Bankstown on the evening of April 15th. Magableh, a Jordanian immigrant, is the CEO and Founder of Ezymart, which opened its first store in 2001 and has now expanded to 450 stores across Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, and South Australia. A large crowd gathered at the Bellevue to celebrate the Iftar, including many Jordanian diasporas and other Middle Eastern nationals. Also in attendance was the Jordanian Ambassador and representative of the Arab diplomatic mission in Australia, Dr. Ali Kraishan alongside a wide array of Arab diplomats.
After enjoying a delicious buffet meal, Magableh took the stage to address the large crowd. In his speech, he praised the Arabic community that has come from various Arabic nations to Australia for their success, maintaining high levels of education, and preserving their traditional culture. After his speech, Ambassador Kraishan proceeded to give a speech, acknowledging and showing his respect to the various representatives of the nations attending the dinner. He also thanked the host for bringing the different cultures under one roof. Afterwards, Islamic banking expert Sheikh Mahmoud Al-Mhedat gave a brief speech, thanking the host of the Iftar and expressing his appreciation for the crowd. After an applause, the wait staff brought out Knafeh and fruit for dessert.
The evening ended around 8 pm with several guests remaining afterward to socialize.
