A murder investigation has been launched after a mother and her two children were found dead at a property near Bedford. Bedfordshire Police forced entry into an address on Carnoustie Drive, Great Denham, on Monday after receiving reports the family had not been seen for several days.

According to BBC News, police have identified a suspect known to all the victims, but authorities believe this individual has left the country. Assistant Chief Constable John Murphy described the situation as “deeply distressing,” emphasizing the need for a thorough investigation.

Murphy stated, “This is the early stages of what is an incredibly complex investigation. We are committing all necessary resources to establish exactly what has happened and to find the person responsible.” While there is currently no indication of a wider risk to the public, police will increase patrols and the number of uniformed officers in the area.

Authorities are urging anyone with information or who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the vicinity on Friday or Saturday to contact Bedfordshire Police. Formal identification of the deceased and the suspect must be completed before their identities can be released publicly.
