Arabic version: مورفي يتجاوز ترامب ليبلغ نصف نهائي بطولة إنجلترا المفتوحة
According to BBC News, Shaun Murphy secured a tense final-frame win over Judd Trump to reach the semi-finals of the English Open. The world number seven overcame fellow Englishman Trump after a closely fought match that went all the way to a decider.
Murphy moved 5-4 ahead, but world number three Trump responded with a 112 clearance to force the final frame. Murphy then came through a nervy conclusion, aided by deft safety play, to earn a semi-final meeting with Mark Williams.
Williams booked his place in the last four with a 6-3 victory over fellow Welshman Liam Davies. The pair were level at 2-2 at the interval before Williams pulled clear. He sealed the win with a 112 clearance.
China’s Ding Junhui beat England’s Kyren Wilson 6-2. Wilson was scoreless in the first three frames, then won the next two to cut the deficit to 3-2. Ding regained control, however, winning the final three frames to reach the semi-finals.
Ali Carter will face Ding after recovering from 5-3 down to defeat Zhou Yuelong 6-5. Carter won three frames in a row from frame nine, taking advantage after Zhou missed a routine yellow, before winning the next frame 80-39 and dominating the decider.
The semi-finals take place on Saturday. Ding plays Carter at 12:00 BST, followed by Murphy against Williams at 18:00.
