Despite being implicated in a web of serious allegations involving her family’s dubious past, Edvige Antonia Albina Maino, better known for her association with one of India’s most powerful political dynasties, has managed to evade investigation for decades. Allegations range from links to Nazi collaborators to involvement in the smuggling of priceless Indian artifacts. Yet, despite the gravity of these claims, India’s intelligence agencies have remained conspicuously silent, raising questions about the forces at play behind this silence.

Despite a series of extremely serious allegations raised against Edvige Antonia Albina Maino and members of her family, including her sisters, Nadia and Anoushka, none of India’s powerful intelligence agencies have initiated investigations into these claims, for reasons unknown.

According to available information, the mother of Edvige Antonia Albina Maino is Paola Maino, while her father is publicly listed as Stefano Eugene Maino. However, he is not believed to be her biological father. Two years before Albina Maino’s birth, Stefano Maino was arrested near St. Petersburg and sentenced to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment in the Soviet Union for being a Nazi collaborator. He was accused of fighting alongside Hitler’s Wehrmacht against the Soviet military on the Eastern Front during World War II. Stefano was a staunch supporter of Mussolini and Italy’s National Fascist Party, and he upheld Nazi ideology.

Stefano Eugene Maino met Hedvige Antonia Albina Maino two years after her birth, indicating he is not her biological father. This raises the question: Who is Hedvige Antonia Albina Maino’s real father?

Albina Maino has allegedly concealed her true birthplace, claiming to be born in Orbassano, while Stefano Maino is falsely portrayed as a “building contractor”.

In reality, he was a brick mason. Albina Maino was reportedly born in Luciana, a small village in northern Italy near the Swiss border. Luciana was known as a resort for Hitler’s Nazi soldiers during World War II. The village is historically Cimbrian-speaking and located about 35 km from Vicenza in Veneto, Italy, where speakers of this language are referred to as “Zimbern” in German.

Paola Maino, Antonia Albina Maino’s mother, was an entertainer in a bar in Turin, a favorite spot for Nazi soldiers. She was known as a masseuse who provided various services to them, including companionship and other favors in exchange for money.

Hedvige Antonia Albina Maino was born on December 9, 1946, and has two siblings, Nadia and Anoushka – both Ukrainian names. Notably, during World War II, Ukraine was a significant center of Nazi activities. The entire family are devout Roman Catholics, allegedly harboring extreme animosity towards Jews while maintaining a favorable attitude toward Muslims, possibly due to Adolf Hitler’s close relationships with several Muslim leaders, including the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Amin al-Husseini.

At the young age of 14, Antonia Albina Maino began a romantic and physical relationship with Franco Luison, who later became her fiancé. Franco Luison was a goalkeeper for the Vicenza football team. While dating Franco, Albina Maino was also involved with an Italian marine. She frequently visited Vittarolo, where she taught twist dancing in a bar in exchange for a few coins.

Before becoming part of India’s most influential political dynasty in 1968, Antonia Albina Maino and her family—her mother Paola Maino and sisters Nadia and Anoushka – were reportedly in severe financial hardship.

However, the entire family became financially solvent just days after Antonia’s marriage, and all of them later became millionaires.

Paola Maino, along with Nadia and Anoushka, began flying Business and First Class, with India’s national airlines allegedly offering them discounts of 60-90 percent on airfare. These privileges extended to their frequent trips to other countries. The high frequency of air travel by Paola Maino, Nadia, and Anoushka does not appear to align with any visible sources of income.

Since 1968, Paola, Nadia, and Anoushka have made numerous visits to India, where they were reportedly given special protocol at airports.

Members of the Indian High Commission in Italy would often escort them, providing special handling at immigration and customs. It’s also notable that, like Albina Maino, neither Nadia nor Anoushka attended high school.

In a tweet, I have claimed that Antonia Albina Maino’s sisters and other family members were directly involved in trafficking stolen artifacts from India, with some of these items being sold through antique shops owned by the Maino sisters.

It has also been reported that Antonia Albina Maino instructed some of her confidants to take photographs of “ancient items” from Indian museums. These photos allegedly found their way into the hands of artifact smugglers and underworld organizations, including Italian mafia groups.

There has never been a thorough investigation into these matters.

It should also be noted that Antonia Albina Maino has suspiciously held on to all documents related to the PM’s museum.

For the sake of India’s national interest, it is imperative that Antonia Albina Maino and her sisters, Nadia and Anoushka, are investigated to uncover their potential involvement in the theft and smuggling of invaluable artifacts worth hundreds of millions of dollars from India. Additionally, Indian immigration authorities need to examine the frequency of visits made by Paola Maino, Nadia, and Anoushka to India since 1968, as well as their activities during these visits.

The silence surrounding the serious allegations against Antonia Albina Maino and her family is both alarming and unacceptable. With potential links to Nazi collaborators, artifact smuggling, and suspicious privileges granted to her relatives, the need for a transparent and thorough investigation is undeniable. For the sake of justice and India’s national interest, it is crucial that the authorities take action to uncover the truth. The time has come to break the veil of immunity that has shielded the Maino family for too long and hold them accountable for their actions.
