ABC Tissue Products has launched a new Community Awareness Program, titled “Your Rights. Your Responsibilities!”
Delivered through a four-part video presentation, the program is designed to help workers better understand the systems and laws in place to protect their health, safety and wellbeing at work, including protections relating to bullying and harassment.
The program provides workers with practical knowledge about their workplace rights, including the right to receive appropriate information, instruction and training to work safely with equipment and tools. Importantly, it also reinforces workers’ right to speak up about health and safety concerns, participate in workplace safety matters and refuse unsafe work.
The series provides a clear and practical overview of Work Health and Safety (WHS) laws, workers’ rights and responsibilities, and the government agencies and support services available when workers need information, advice or assistance. It also helps workers understand where they can turn for support if a workplace issue or concern cannot be resolved internally.
The program is particularly valuable for workers from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, with videos available in English and Arabic. By making this information available in multiple languages, the program aims to make important workplace health and safety information more accessible and help reduce language barriers to understanding workers’ rights, responsibilities and available support.
The four-video presentation consists of the following:
Part 1. Your Right to a Safe Workplace – why safety is a fundamental right for every worker
Part 2. What are my Rights at Work? – understanding entitlements and protections under WHS law
Part 3. What are my Responsibilities? – what’s expected of workers to keep themselves and others safe
Part 4. Where can I get Help? – key agencies and services available for support, advice, or reporting concerns
ABC Tissue Products encourages community members and employees in all NSW workplaces, to share this resource widely. The program is a practical and proven educational resource designed to help workers better understand their workplace rights, responsibilities, health and safety obligations, and the support available to them.
